Forensic Science Minor

The minor in Forensic and Investigative Sciences is designed for students who wish to learn the basic concepts of forensic science and how to apply them to other fields of knowledge. Prerequisites to any of the minor courses are not included but are required in order to complete the minor.

Course Requirements: 17 credit hours

  • FIS 20500 Concepts of Forensic Science I (3 cr.)
  • FIS 20600 Concepts of Forensic Science II (3 cr.)
  • FIS 30500 Professional Issues in Forensic Science (3 cr.)
  • FIS 41500 Forensic Science and the Law (3 cr.)
  • FIS 10101 Investigating Forensic Science (2cr.)
  • SPEA-J 303 Evidence (3 cr.) or SPEA-J 320 Criminal Investigation (3 cr.)

In order to obtain the FIS Minor, you must submit the application

Prerequisites

  • FIS 10101 or CHEM-C 101 or CHEM-C105
  • FIS 20500 and FIS 20600
  • FIS 30500
  • SPEA-J 101


Residency Requirement

A minimum of 6 credits in the minor must be taken at the IUPUI campus. Correspondence courses may not be used to fulfill requirements for the minor.

Grade Policy

No grade below C is acceptable in the minor subject. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required to complete the minor.
