Geneticist/Molecular Biologist
The Forensic and Investigative Science Program and the Department of Biology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Forensic Biology to begin August 1, 2010. Rank is open and competitive salary and start-up funds are available. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching in interdisciplinary B.S. and M.S. degree programs in Forensic and Investigative Sciences within the School of Science. A Ph.D. in molecular biology or a related area is expected. Postdoctoral training is essential for those who are early in their careers. Some experience in the analysis of DNA in a forensic setting is desirable. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to initiate and sustain an externally funded program of research, and be able to teach courses in DNA analysis and related courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants at a senior level must have a record of research excellence, a history of external funding, and a strong record of mentoring students.

The IUPUI campus located in downtown Indianapolis, has a student population in excess of 30,000 and attracts more external research funding than any other university campus in the State of Indiana. The Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program has a five year old BS degree with more than 120 majors and a new MS degree. Both the BS and MS degrees have concentrations in forensic chemistry and biology.
